Raspberry Pi - Physical Computing

By The Hacktory (other events)

3 Dates Through May 12, 2015

ABOUT ABOUT

The Raspberry Pi is an excellent machine for physical computing projects that need networking, disk storage, or both.  It runs Linux and has standard video, audio, and USB ports, so you have your choice of software, programming languages, and hardware.  This class will provide a fast-paced tour of everything you need to start your own projects on the Raspberry Pi.

We'll cover initial setup, connecting the computer to the internet, connecting to breadboards using SPI or I2C, and a taste of the Linux command line - and we'll explain what all that means.  Some prior programming experience, in any language, is assumed. The class examples will be in Python.

Tickets are $120, and cover 3 sessions, all on Tuesdays: April 28, May 5, and May 12 from 7pm to 9pm. Laptops will be provided by Dept. of Making  + Doing.  Raspberry Pis and associated hardware will be available during class.  Students may choose to buy the RasPi kit at the end of the third session.
