This is our time to show the world how great Philly is, how much talent we have here, and try to turn around this bad reputation that's been haunting us for way too long!
We are going to model our event on a Random Hacks of Kindness hackathon, where we brainstorm problems or project ideas together, and then break off into teams to work on them. If you're thinking "Uh oh, I don't have any tech skills, I shouldn't go to a hackathon," that's not the case at all! All are welcome, we are looking to make use of everyone's skills, technical and non-technical alike. We have a set of social rules to help ensure that we create an environment where everyone is comfortable asking questions, so we will ask everyone to follow those while participating in the rebuilding efforts.
We will bring the parts we think we need to build one or more robots, but we want to see a wide variety of creative responses. What else could be done to show how much Philly loves robots? What could be done to showcase our creative and technical skills? Mayor Nutter suggested a spoof off the intro to "Six Million Dollar Man" - so anyone with video skills, let's make it happen!
