THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED DUE TO A MEDICAL EMERGENCY ON BEHALF OF ONE OF THE INSTRUCTORS
With the recent nuclear events and Philly’s own glowing water problem, we’ve all been questioning radiation and safety. So, we decided to bring in some experts from EFMR to help figure out the facts and to offer some hands-on work. EFMR was formed after a Three Mile Island incident to provide radiation monitoring in the area, and it has grown to include education and citizens monitoring programs.
Barry Brosey and Rodger Granlund will be on hand to explain the fundamentals of radiation, both manmade and background, and how it is measured. As for gadgets, we will learn how to use the Radalert GM meter (used by citizens) and the newer fancy schmancy ST-10 GM counter which operates with a personal computer as a continuous monitor. There will be comparisons of past nuclear events and discussions on protection. So sign up now, because you know you won’t hear about it from the media. $30 includes snack.
